About

Queenspark School Library is a vibrant and busy place at the centre of Queenspark School’s learning and enjoyment.

About us:

We employ 50 Student Librarians, 10 of whom are Lead Librarians, with 1 Lead Librarian having overall responsibility. We are very proud of our Librarians and their contribution to our school.

Our School Librarian is Ms. Hill BA, RLIANZA, Cert.Lit.LibCYP, RSA CTEFLA.

About our Library:

Our opening hours are 9.30 – 2.30 every weekday, including interval and lunchtime.

Books are issued for two weeks from the general collection and for a shorter time from the Inquiry collection. Books may be renewed providing they are not required for a reserve. The option of searching for information and reserving books is available from every computer within the school with your personal login details through the Library link on the Queenspark School website.

Our catalogue will be available from home from 2011 via the Library link on the Queenspark School website.

Our Parent Collection will also be available from 2011 and will be able to be issued to your child’s card for you. This collection includes books on what books to choose to help your child’s reading journey, books on sexuality and puberty, the latest Parenting magazine, books on dealiing with behavioural issues, dyslexia and other general parenting issues. Please feel free to come and browse – the Librarian will be happy to help you. 🙂

Our books are divided into several collections to make it easier for students to find a book that fits them best. We have Older Fiction, Quick Reads (Younger Fiction), Graphic Novels, Picture Books, Fast & Fun (Quick Reads for older students), Magazine & Browsing, Sopisticated Picture Books, Reference and Non Fiction.

Our Non Fiction collection uses the Dewey Decimal system (click here for a link explaining how this works) and we also group some of these books in subject bins. This makes them really easy to browse through and find what you want. If you have any questions, please ask the Librarian. She will be happy to help. 🙂
